Sorry I had to reblog this again because I found the article and I don’t think I’ve ever read something that screams “I grew up in the most privileged liberal cities in America” as this

ok so the notes bring up some ok points such as “there are ways to finger people with long nails” and “people seem to be judging her for how easy it would be for her to have sex with a cis woman and. in the context of the tweet or some people’s responses I agree. However in the article she discusses solutions for fingering cis women with nails, and her point is not “not all sex has to be penetrative” but rather “worries about my long nails in penetrative sex are unwarranted because I can use them Safely” but like. One of the principles of safety is eliminating potential hazards. You can use careful technique or gloves with cotton balls or duller nails, but that absolutely does not change the fact that the presence of acrylic nails inside someone is inherently less safe than if there were not acrylic nails inside them (what if you slip up or are startled? what if your glove breaks? what if you lose one of your duller nails?) and that if you don’t want to take off your nails before sex that is a fact which you must acknowledge, and furthermore which you must MUST accept that your partner might not be ok with. You are putting them at greater risk and it is not your decision alone whether that risk is “small enough” or “worth it”.

The closing sentence “As for sex, don’t worry, ladies. I have claws and I know how to use them — safely.” really gives away how she thinks about this issue: because she has procedures to make it *less dangerous*, it’s therefore “safe” and nobody should worry, even though the existence of a hazard + management procedures is inherently less safe than having no hazard
